The Common Blue

Interestingly,  the Coat of Arms of  the Muschamps of Barmoor  was three   butterflies :

" Azure three butterflies silver "   (Visit of Northumberland 1615 ed Foster p 91; Eliz. Roll  s.s. Vol 41 p. xxxviii )
The Muscamps barons of Wooler bore
gold two bars and a chief gulesbut the family of Barmoor reverted to the original canting device (muscarum campus) used on his seal by Thomas Muscamp
